Placid Refining Company’s top priority is “Safety First” and our primary focus is, and always will be, the safety and health of all employees, contractors, and our local community.
Placid recognized that to truly reach the goal of being an industry leader in occupational safety and health management, employees and contractors must work together in an integrated team-based approach toward that common goal. By utilizing this team-based approach and integrating “Safety-First” in all project planning and decision making, Placid became, and will remain, an industry leader in safety and occupational health.
Placid became an OSHA VPP Star Site in 2006 and has successfully maintained its Star status since that time. OSHA’s VPP program was developed as a cooperative program between OSHA and members of industry and focuses on hazard prevention, training, management commitment and worker involvement. Prior to acceptance into this prestigious program, companies must meet all requirements established by OSHA culminating with rigorous and reoccurring onsite evaluations. To achieve VPP “Star” status, sites must demonstrate their exemplary commitment to safety and health. VPP Star sites must have comprehensive safety and health management systems in place and they must also achieve injury and illness rates below the national average for their industry. Placid holds its VPP Star status as a great honor and believes it demonstrates Placid’s continuing commitment to safety and health.
